MIAMI -- Giancarlo Stanton still needs to have five teeth fixed or replaced, along with a procedure to assess how much blood remains in his sinus cavity, and he will be understandably leery the next time he grabs a bat. T.J. Yeldon Jersey . He also knows things could be a whole lot worse. The Miami slugger spoke out for the first time Thursday night about the injury that ended his season, doing so while still sporting a pair of slightly blackened eyes and with a wound evident over the left side of his mouth. His return wasnt triumphant; the Marlins were beaten 6-2 by the Washington Nationals. Stanton rejoined the club exactly one week after taking a fastball from Milwaukees Mike Fiers in the face. "Swellings way down, much better than I envisioned," Stanton said. "Just got to get the grill fixed and well go from there." Stanton sounded very much like himself, though he is still a bit uncomfortable about putting the extent of his dental damage on display. The 24-year-old outfielder met with reporters, but no photos or videos were permitted. Jeff Baker drove in one run and scored another for the Marlins (74-78). Miami native Gio Gonzalez (9-10) allowed two runs in seven innings, and Bryce Harper had three hits for the Nationals, who are pushing for home-field advantage in the NL playoffs. Kevin Frandsen and Anthony Rendon each had two hits for Washington (88-64), which took control with a five-run fourth off Miami starter Brad Hand. Hand (3-8) gave up five earned runs and eight hits in five innings. "It was nice to see him and see that hes doing all right," Hand said of Stanton. "But weve still got to come in here and get the job done." Stanton said he remembers Fiers arm action on the pitch, and thinks his eyes found the ball about midway through its journey to the plate. The pitch came in and caught the NL MVP contender in the face, and Stanton said he briefly blacked out. "My ears were ringing," Stanton said. "I couldnt hear nothing, except the ring. I was checking my mouth, just the blood, mouth full and having chunks of teeth floating around." Stanton hoped to play all 162 games this season, and even envisioned a return later this year after the injury. The Marlins ruled him officially out for 2014 earlier this week. When he returns, Stanton said he will wear additional protection on his helmet. He doesnt expect to have any mental blocks about playing again. "I think when we decide the protection, Ill have more reassurance," Stanton said. Stanton led the NL with 37 home runs and 105 RBIs when he got hurt, plus had drawn more intentional walks than any other two NL players combined -- all part of the reason why his teammates have insisted for weeks that he should be the league MVP. "Thats not up to me," Stanton said. "Thats the voters. Theres nothing I can do." Stanton has heard from plenty of people who have endured similar injuries, including Atlantas Jason Heyward. Stantons orbital bone was broken by the pitch from Fiers -- but not shattered, which is a critical distinction. Stanton said his vision is normal and that he anticipates no reason why he wont be able to begin his usual off-season program in December. Still, the force of the hit was massive. Stantons face was struck on the left, but blood was found in the sinuses on the right side of his head -- with an additional CT scan still looming to assess that situation, which is currently preventing him from flying commercially. The Marlins brought him back to Miami on a private jet. Stanton isnt sure how many stitches were needed to close the wounds, either. "I was really fortunate," Stanton said. "I could have my mouth wired shut now, I could have a plate in my face, I could have a lot of things. Ill take a few missing teeth over all that. My face didnt do exactly what it was supposed to do by taking that force, but it helped me out." KS FOR CAPPS Miami reliever Carter Capps recorded four outs, all by strikeout. He is the seventh Marlins pitcher to do that, according to STATS. TRAINERS ROOM Nationals: 3B Ryan Zimmerman went 1 for 7 as the DH in a simulated game at the Nationals training facility in Viera, Florida. Marlins: RHP Jose Fernandez, out for the season because of elbow reconstruction surgery, might begin a light throwing regimen on Oct. 1. UP NEXT Nationals: RHP Doug Fister (14-6, 2.55) gets the ball Friday night in Miami. Marlins: RHP Tom Koehler (9-9, 3.71) starts Friday against Washington. Allen Robinson Jersey . Tony Parker had 33 points and nine assists and San Antonio never trailed in a resounding 116-92 victory over Portland, bullying the younger Trail Blazers in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. Jaguars Jerseys .C. -- Ryan Sproul scored the winner late in double overtime to lift the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 2-1 win over the Abbotsford Heat on Friday in Game 1 of their American Hockey League playoff series.Canadas most successful MMA promotion, The Maximum Fighting Championship returns this Friday night for MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Their 38th instalment is arguably their biggest fight card to date, including three-title fights and a main event which was selected by the fans.  The promotion boasts 14-straight years of business and is operated by MFC president Mark Pavelich, who is often overlooked in this country for the foundation hes established for MMA in Canada.  "Im the forefather of MMA in this country and its going to continue to be that way -- When Im dead one day and they make (me) a statue. (Critics will) feel terrible about how they spoke about me. Thats whats going to happen." Pavelich told TSN.ca  Founded in 2001, the MFC is the longest running MMA promotion in North America next to the UFC and has outlasted other organizations such as the IFL, Elite XC, DREAM, Affliction and most recently Strikeforce who have all ceased operations.  "Im not a promoter; Im a fight pioneer thats what people dont understand. Fight promoters are guys that come around and do it once in a while Im a guy thats been in (the fight business) right from the beginning."  While MMA has been thriving in Western Canada for years thanks to the success of the MFC, the province of Ontario hasnt been as responsive, only legalizing MMA back in 2010. Despite the UFC holding successful annual events in Toronto the last few years, local MMA promotions are essentially non-existent in Ontario. Even the MFC has only held one event in Ontario (MFC 29: Conquer, in Windsor, Ontario) and that was back in 2011. Whats keeping local MMA out of Ontario? According to Pavelich it is the governing bodies in charge and not Ontario Athletic Commissioner Ken Hayashi.  "Its not (Hayashi), its the provincial government that makes these regulations and fees. Thats the thing they have to fix and alter before (the MFC) returns because these fees are astronomical, theyre the highest in the world. Las Vegas is cheaper (to run an event), Albertas cheaper, and Quebec is cheaper."  Pavelich believes MMA cant grow properly in Ontario if the UFC is the only promotion running events.  "Thats just something (the governing bodies) have to take a look at. If they really want to see MMA develop properly in Ontario, I think (the MFC) is the only brand of MMA that can actually do it. I mean if you want to wait around for the UFC to come once a year and you think thats going to develop MMA, its not going to happen that way."  One of the catalysts for the MFCs success has been their out of the box type thinking, including their recent "Punch The Vote" contest where fans had the opportunity to pick which of the three title fights would serve as the main event for MFC 38. This included Canadian Smealinho Rama vs. Anthony Hamilton (for the heavyweight title), Sam Alvey vs. Jason South (for the 185lb title) and Anthony Birchack vs. Tito Jones (for the 135lb title).  "What I loved about the voting -- It really showed were not a local a brand of MMA, were not even a Canadian brand of MMA, and we had people voting from all over the world. That proves thats lots of people are paying attention and thats really exciting."  Proof of this was the Calgary native Rama who received the least amount of votes and bantamweights Birchack and Jones (both of whom are American) earning the main event slot.  Rounding out MFC 38s main card, aside from the three title fights is a lightweight affair between Canadian Kurt Southern and Jason Novaes. Pavelich believes this rematch from MFC 36 will be nothing short of fireworks.  "Kurt Southern is the best 155er in Canada. I think Novaes is a speccial individual as well. Allen Hurns Youth Jersey. Theyre going to go at it again for the second time and Im super excited about that. But like I said its unfortunate because there are three titles and nobody is talking about (this) fight."  On the topic of fighters on the MFC roster, many fans have been wondering why welterweight superstar Dhiego Lima hasnt been competing inside the MFC ring this year. The answer is simple, hes a free-agent.  "Problem with Dhiego is we have too many American Top Team guys in our organization. He was crossing (fights) with them -- a few times he was going to have title fights with other American Top Team guys and then it got really weird. They wouldnt fight each other."  "We released him and let him go to where he wants to go, because (not fighting teammates) is going to be a problem."  This is the second time Pavelich has let a Lima brother leave his organization as a free-agent. Dhiegos older brother Douglas left in the Alberta based promotion back in 2011 and has recently found success in in the Bellator Fighting Championships, winning two welterweight tournaments.  "Im happy for (Douglas) although I dont think hes fighting for the right organization, sometimes agents make the mistake. I dont blame him whatsoever."  "Go check Limas twitter today, you know what it still says "MFC Champ" at the top of it. That tells you whats in his heart. He told us at our home one time that made a mistake going to (Bellator). He could have walked into the UFC, and not just walked in, he could have walked in like a star"  "I dont think he gets the publicity like he did when he was with the Maximum Fighting Championship any more. (Bellator) fails to promote that end of stuff"  As the sport of MMA continues to grow, the addition of women fighting is always a hot topic. With UFC introducing females into their organization earlier this year and debuting them on the Ultimate Fighter, could we see the same thing in the MFC?  "I respect all female fighters. Im a huge Miesha Tate fan, I like Sarah Kaufman. I think theyre great athletes. The problem is I dont think I can get a quality ten girls together to make this a great division."  Another budding issue with the MFC is their broadcast rights. Currently their events only broadcast live on AXS TV (formally HDNet) in the States. Canadian cable companies pulled the plug on AXS TV in Canada last year. The only way fans can watch MFC events in Canada is on a two-week tape delay on speciality channel the Fight Network.  "Andrew Simon and Mark Cuban are very intelligent at AXS TV and everybody knows that. I know they want to be in Canada. Sometimes being Mark Cuban is difficult because people might charge too much for what (the network) is really worth. The cable networks and the fans have to realize that its your obligation to tell the cable company that you want AXS TV (in Canada)"  Despite these hurdles, Pavelich believes the MFC is a unique brand of MMA and fans always get their monies worth seeing their events live.  "Come watch our brand of MMA and then you tell me after that you didnt get your $60 worth or your $600 worth its impossible! (Quality fights) is the only thing were good at and weve been good at it for 14-years."  "We have real fighters in the MFC. You cant pick who you fight in the Maximum Fighting Championships, you go in these other organizations and you can pick who you fight. We tell you youre going to fight because its our job is to the fans and we want to put on the best fight possible"  MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines takes place this Friday (October 4th) at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton Alberta Canada and on AXS TV. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
NEW ORLEANS - In what has become a highlight of the NBA calendar, All-Star Saturday festivities will commence from Smoothie King Center. J.J. Hardy Orioles Jersey . The night starts off with the Shooting Stars competition, followed by the Skills Challenge, the 3-Point Shootout and the main event, a showcase of athleticism known as the Slam-Dunk Contest. You can catch all of the action live starting at 8pm et/5pm pt on TSN2. Or, one could call All-Star Saturday, "Damian Lillard Day." The Portland All-Star, who competed in the Rising Stars game on Friday, is scheduled to participate in the Skills Challenge, 3-Point Shootout and Slam- Dunk Contest on Saturday. "Im happy that Im really a part of the weekend. I get to compete in all these events, and just to be in these guys company with all these stars," said Lillard. "It lets you know that the hard work is paying off." This year, much like last, Saturdays competitions are broken down into East vs. West. Paul George of the Indiana Pacers is the East captain, while Steph Curry guides the West. Both are starters in Sundays All-Star game. Saturdays happenings start at 8 p.m. ET. Up first will be the Shooting Stars, a simple enough competition where current NBAers join a legend and a WNBA star in a shooting contest from all over the floor. The first round will feature teams from the same conference against each other. The winning teams advance to the final round for the title. Each competitor will be stationed at one of the first three places, and the shot must be made before the next can be attempted. All three will chuck it up from near half-court and the team with the best time wins. Its a family affair for two of the teams as Curry will join his father Dell Curry and Becky Harmon of the San Antonio Silver Stars. On the East team, Tim Hardaway, Jr. of the New York Knicks will partner with his dad Tim and Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder will pair with Karl Malone and Skylar Diggins of the Tulsa Shock. The other East team is the defending champion trio of Miamis Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins and Swin Cash of the Sky. The Skills Challenge underwent some changes this year. Now, there will be two two-man teams from each conference competing against each other to reach the East vs. West final. It will now be a relay format. The Eastern teams will be rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and All-Star DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors as well as rookies Michael Carter-Williams of the 76ers and Orlandos Victor Oladipo. The West will be represented by Lillard and Utah Jazz first-year player Trey Burke and the tandem of Goran Dragic of the Phoenix Suns and Reggie Jackson of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 3-Point Shootout remained largely untouched, although the East v. West format remains intact. The player from the Eastern Conference with the most points will meet the player from the Western Conference with the most points. However, there is one new wrinkle this year. Each player can make one of the five locations to a full rack of five money balls, each worth two points. Defending champion Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers anchors the East team of Orlandos Arron Afflalo, Washingtons Bradley Beal and Joe Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets. Curry and Lillard are on the West team alongside All-Star starter Kevin Love, who won the title in 2012, and San Antonio Spur Marco Belinelli. And now, its time for the main event. This years edition of the Slam-Dunk contest will see many changes, first of which is a Freestyle Round. Lets let the NBA explain: "In a significant first in the events history, the competition will tip off with a Freestyle Round where the dunkers for each conference will have 90 seconds to showcase as many dunks as they want. At the conclusion of the Freestyle Round, the panel of judges will then choose a winner by voting East or West. The winning conference will earn the advantage of deciding whether its dunkers will dunk first or second in the head-to-head battles that take place in the Battle Round." The Battle Round? "The Battle Round will feature head-to-head matchups pitting East dunkers vs. West dunkers, with the judges choosing a winner for each battle. Upon losing a head-to-head battle, that dunker is then eliminated from the competition. The first team to win three battles will win the competition and be crowned 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk champions." No individual champion? "At the conclusion of the team competition, fans will then have the opportunity to vote for the player of their choice as the Sprite Slam Dunker of the Night through SMS, Twitter, NBA.com and the NBA GameTime app." For the first time since 1988, there will be three All-Stars in the Slam-Dunk Contest. George and John Wall of the Washington Wizards team with defending champion Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors, and out West, Lillard, Golden States Harrison Barnes and Sacramentos Ben McLemore round out the team. Jim Palmer Orioles Jersey . Ontario Superior Court Case Management Master Ronald Dash released the decision on Monday, saying John McCaw Jr. must testify in front of a jury by live video conference. Moores lawyer, Tim Danson, asked the court to compel McCaw - who is based in Seattle - to testify in the case back on February 27. Rolando McClain Alabama Jersey . -- The Sacramento Kings and guard Jimmer Fredette have completed a buyout of his contract, clearing the way for the former BYU sensation to become a free agent.TAMPA, Fla. -- Sidney Crosby hit a milestone and helped his team get a win. Chris Kunitz scored two goals and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 21 shots, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. Crosby had assists on all three goals for Pittsburgh, which extended its winning streak in the series to eight games. The Penguins also halted the Lightnings bid to tie a club record with an eighth consecutive triumph on home ice. Kunitz opened the scoring seven minutes in, taking a pass from Crosby and lifting it past Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop from the left circle. Kunitz sealed the win, scoring into an empty net with 1:43 remaining in the game. Crosbys accomplishment caught the attention of his coach. "It is amazing how often and how fast he has been on that score sheet," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said of Crosby, whose second assist was the 700th point of his career. Crosby, the NHL leader this season with 36 points, appreciates the milestone. "You obviously play to win, but when you get things like that, little individual things, I guess you enjoy it for a little bit," he said. "Its fun to see that, but ultimately you play to win games. Its nice we were able to get a win in the same night." Brandon Sutter scored the second Pittsburgh goal on a power play midway into the third period. Sutter took his own rebound behind the net and banked it off the leg of Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman on the opposite side. &"Its part of the game. Arizona Diamondbacks Jerseys. It was a really lucky bounce for them and unfortunate for us," Hedman said. "Down one goal and they get a lucky one on the power play, so obviously it sucks a little momentum out of you. ... It could have gone either way. They got the bounces today." Tampa Bay had several excellent scoring chances. Richard Panik got loose in front of the Pittsburgh net just before the second intermission, but was stopped by Fleury, who earlier made a save on Nikita Kucherov on a partial breakaway. "Part of the problem tonight was we let Fleury see shots, not all of them, but too many," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "And we were really having a tough time getting pucks to the net." The Lightning also came up empty in three man-advantage situations. Bishop, who finished with 26 saves, has lost twice in his past three games. The early goal set the tone for Pittsburgh, which has won all but one of the 15 games in which it scored first. The Penguins are 9-0 when leading after the first period, and Tampa Bay is 0-6 when behind after one. NOTES: Crosby, Kunitz and C Evgeni Malkin each have seven-game point streaks against the Lightning, with a combined 23 goals and 22 assists. ... Pittsburgh broke a tie with Tampa Bay for second place in the Eastern Conference. ... Penguins LW James Neal was held without a point for the first time in six games, having collected 11 on six goals and five assists in his past five outings. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
SACRAMENTO - Regardless of how the rest of the campaign shakes out, when its all said and done December 8 will be a date that jumps out as a turning point, not only for the Raptors but for Rudy Gay himself. Todd Gurley Jersey . Its been two seasons in one for both parties and neither will look back on the first 18 games fondly. "I think I took the fall for a lot of things," said Gay, reflecting on his short time in Toronto ahead of Wednesdays game against his former club. "But its happened before and itll happen again." Rightly or wrongly, Gay has and will continue to shoulder most of the blame for Torontos 6-12 start, the same way his exodus will be credited for the teams remarkable turnaround. Theres no avoiding it. In Toronto, Gay was the offence, more or less. He was taking more shots than ever before, shooting the lowest percentages of his career and as a result the team was losing. The numbers are pretty conclusive, the Raptors are a better team without him on the roster. However, Gay has also taken off since the trade to Sacramento, which goes to show you that finding the right fit - although its easier said than done - can make a big difference. "I think here theres just more space [in the offence]," said Gay, who is averaging more points and taking fewer shots with the Kings. "Obviously with the kind of season Kyle (Lowry) is having and with DeMar (DeRozan) sometimes it would be a little cluttered out there, especially at the guard position. Here theres just more space for me to do what I do." Gay has shot 50 per cent or better in 17 of his 25 games with the Kings after doing so in one of 18 contests to begin the season in Toronto. Overall, hes hitting 53 per cent of his field goal attempts since the trade, having shot 39 per cent before it. "It just wasnt working up there for whatever reason," said Kings first-year head coach Mike Malone. "But when we made the acquisition we looked at Rudy as a complete player and his whole history, including his years in Memphis and you see how efficient and effective hes been for us." He credits most of that improvement to a system thats more conducive to his style of play, a system that revolves around dominant centre DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is one of just three NBA players averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds this season. The attention he attracts in the paint has created space for Gay to operate on the perimeter. "You look at Torontos roster and no disrespect to Jonas (Valanciunas) or Amir (Johnson) but they dont have a true low-post presence," Malone said. "When Rudy was in Memphis he had two [frontcourt] guys that he could play with in Marc (Gasol) and Zach (Randolph) and we just thought the idea of putting him on the perimeter with the inside presence of [Cousins] could really allow him to showcase his abilities." "So it is a fit and guys have to compliment each other and thats what putting together a roster is all about," he continued. "Up there, for whatever reason, DeMar and Rudy on the court maybe wasnt a mesh, maybe [there] wasnt enough shots to go around. Im not sure what it was but all I can tell you is that the games that weve had Rudy hes been a great fit." The marriage between Gay and the Raptors, which lasted less than a full year, was flawed from the outset. He and DeRozan had repetitive skill sets that clashed on the court, restricting Lowry from playing to his strengths and stunting the growth of Valanciunas. Dwane Casey tried his best to fit square pegs into round holes until the inevitable split up freed his team and their most expensive player. The pieces just didnt fit. Though his pre-trade numbers may suggest otherwise, Gay never threw in the towel or lost hope that they would figure it out. "I think we had a chance to be a really good team," he said, two months removed from the deal. "I mean obviously theyre a really good team now but I still dont feel we had a lot of time to build and become a big threat in the East." Without Gay the Raptors have a record of 20-10, third best in the Eastern Conference behind only Indiana and Miami. They have recorded 20 or more assists in 24 of those 30 games, averaging 22.9 per contest, ninth-best over that stretch after ranking last in that category before the trade (averaging 17.3). They have gone from the 19th ranked three-point shooting team (34 per cent) to the fifth best (38 per cent) and find themselves in the top 10 in both offensive (10th) and defensive (fifth) efficiency since Dec. 8. "I think the trade helped both of us," Gay said. "Im here, I have more room and they have a solid bench. [Theres] no hard feelings. I love the fact that those guys are winning." Meanwhile, Gays reprisal hasnt translated to team success in Sacramento, at least not yet. The Kings are 11-19 since the trade, tied for the worst record in the West overall. Theyre last in the NBA in assists since Gays arrival but its been their defence, among the worst in the league, that has held them back more than anything else. Yet with Gay on board, paired with a young core of Cousins and breakout point guard Isaiah Thomas, the Kings are optimistic about the future. They have reason to be. New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has given an insight into his tactical thinking as he prepares for Italys opening game of Euro 2016 against Belgium on Monday. Luke Kuechly Womens Jersey . Conte, who will leave his job with the Azzurri to take charge at Stamford Bridge after the tournament in France, is set to rely on the solid foundation provided by the defence of his former club Juventus. The 46-year-old has regularly started with the backline of the Serie A champions with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini forming a three-man defence in front of veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. However, he has also stressed the teams focus is not just on a traditional strong Italian defence as he is keen to adopt a balanced approach. Its definitely an advantage to be able to rely on four players from Juventus who have played together for a long time in defence, and of course we are building something solid on this basis, Conte, whose team conceded just seven goals in 10 matches in qualifying, told UEFAs official website. Sky Sports Euro predictor Pick your champions in France But as I said before, I like to adopt a proactive style of play and for this, balance will be important, both in attacking and defending.Bonucci, though, believes the Italy strikers will have a high workload as Conte asks them to be his teams first line of defence. Leonardo Bonucci expect some defensive help from the Italy forwards Whats certain is that the defensive operation includes the forwards as well. Our work is made easier by the fact our forwards, just as Conte wants, are our first defenders, Bonucci said.I dont think a team necessarily need to score that many goals; you only have to score one more than your opponents and concede one less. That is what really counts.Check our minute-by-minute updates from every single game at Euro 2016 on skysports.com/football, our app for mobile devices and iPad and our Twitter account @skysportsfootball.By purchasing a Sky Sports Day Pass for £6.99 or Sky Sports Week Pass for £10.99, you can enjoy access to all seven Sky Sports channels and watch on a TV with a NOW TV Box or on a range of devices. The Formations Toronto FC lined up in its usual 4-4-2 formation, with Nick Hagglund slotting in at right fullback and Bradley Orr at centreback in place of the injured Mark Bloom and Steven Caldwell, respectively. Ted Ginn Jr Womens Jersey .Y. - OK, it is done. With John Tavares second period knee injury against the Latvians Wednesday, he wasnt just lost for the rest of the Olympics, but also the rest of the NHL season. The blow for the New York Islanders was softened a little by the fact their season is already all but over, sitting 12 points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a 22-30-8 record. But imagine if the Islanders were in playoff contention, losing one of the best players in the league. Islanders general manager Garth Snow was none too happy about losing his superstar centre at an international competition. Speaking to Newsday on Thursday, Snow chastised the IIHF and IOC for wanting all the benefits of NHLers for nothing in return and even suggesting the organizations reimburse Islanders season ticket holders. Tavares injury, and Snows subsequent reaction – a sentiment likely shared by GMs around the NHL – may be enough for the league to halt their participation in the Olympics. In light of this and other injuries suffered in Sochi, is it time for the NHL to stop sending their players to the Winter Olympics? The 23-year-old Canadians season isnt the only casualty of the Winter Games, as the Florida Panthers have lost promising rookie Alexander Barkov to a knee injury playing for Finland, and veteran forward TThomas Kopecky to a concussion playing for Slovakia. Thomas Davis Authentic Jersey. And while Pavel Datsyuk played in every Russian game at the Olympics, an argument could be made that were it not for the Olympics in his home country, the 35-year-old would be resting his troublesome knee ahead of the Detroit Red Wings playoff push. The solution could come in the reincarnation of the World Cup of Hockey, to be played in late summer before the NHL season begins. While injuries would be as unavoidable then as they are now in the Olympics, players would be coming in fresher and would have more time to heal before training camps open in the fall. Theres nothing quite as momentous as playing for your country in the Olympics, as Steven Stamkos showed doing everything he could to get healthy in time for this years tournament, but a World Cup could be a compromise that keeps every party involved relatively happy. And for hockey nuts worried about the void if the NHL pulls out of the Olympics, ideas such as making the World Juniors, an increasingly popular tournament around the world, an Olympic event every fourth year may be enough to appease them. Should the NHL stop sending their players to the Winter Olympics? Youve heard what weve had to say, now its your turn. As always, its Your! Since its the start of the NHL Playoffs and the NBA Playoffs are up next we thought that the best way to start would be with a few hockey moments and a very famous basketball one as well. Yannick Ngakoue Youth Jersey . THE MICHAEL JORDAN FLU GAME First this famous basketball moment.  The story goes like this. “Game 5, known as "The Flu Game", was one of Michael Jordans most memorable. At 2 a.m on Tuesday morning, Jordan called his personal trainer to his hotel room, where he was lying in the fetal position and sweating profusely. He hardly had the strength to sit up in bed and was diagnosed with a stomach virus or food poisoning, likely caused by a pizza ordered the night before. The Bulls trainers told Jordan that there was no way he could play the next day. The Jazz had just won Games 3 & 4 to tie the series at 2 wins apiece, and a third consecutive win would give them the momentum. The Bulls needed their leader for this critical swing game, and despite his ailments, Jordan got out of bed at 5:50 p.m on Wednesday, just in time for the 7 oclock tip-off at the Delta Center.” Heres what it would have looked like if MJ took to Twitter: Heres a look at that Flu Game: PATRICK ROY VS JEREMY ROENICK Next up, the infamous war of words between Patrick Roy and Jeremy Roenick. Heres the set up, it was the 1996 Western Conference Semi Finals, Jeremy Roenick was hauled down on a breakaway late in the series and he got upset that a penalty was not called.  When asked about it Patrick Roy responded with "I would have saved it anyway”.  Roenick didnt take Roys comment lightly. In a separate interview, J.R. gave his response. "Id like to know where Patrick was in Game 3 (a game in which Roenick had scored on Patrick Roy on a similar breakaway)," he continued with "Probably up trying to get his jock out of the rafters." Patrick had the last laugh on and off the ice with one of the greatest quotes in hockey history: "I cannot really hear what Jeremy says because Ive got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ear,". Roy and the Avalanche won the series and then the Stanley Cup. Heres what it would have looked like if they guys had Twitter: Heres the video of the whole event: AL MICHAELS “DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES”Historic moments will always a part of sports, but rarely is a single event captured in a phrase, spoken just at the right moment. That is exactly what happened when Al Michaels exclaimed“Do you believe in miracles? Yes!”  during the  1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Michaels said those words (while along side Ken Dryden) with six seconds left on the clock in what is arguably the most dramatic game and most unbelievable upset in sports history. To this day it is regularly quoted and a movie was even made using a title from his call.Heres what it would have looked like if he Tweeted it: We hope you enjoyed those Tweets in sports history, please let us know if you have suggestions for future moments you would like to see “If They Tweeted” by tweeting us @BarDown Julius Thomas Jersey . Atletico Madrid made it three wins from three thanks to a double from in-form striker Diego Costa in a 3-0 victory at Austria Vienna, leaving the Spanish side on the brink of the last 16 already to continue its brilliant start to the season.Steven Stamkos injury was not enough to prevent him from being named to the squad as Canada general manager Steve Yzerman is fully aware of what the 23-year-old can do when healthy. Fielding questions after the announcement, Yzerman noted that the brain trust had to take a chance on Stamkos being healthy, since they would be unable to add him to the roster later on. "If hes healthy hes one of the 25 best players, obviously, in Canada," Yzerman said after the roster announcement. "His rehab and recovery are going very well," Yzerman said. "The doctors are pleased with what they see on X-ray and I think every day people see the updates of him skating and whatnot. Hes pushing himself extremely hard." Stamkos is still skating on his own as he recovers from a broken leg. The native of Markham, Ontario has been out of action since crashing into a goal post in Nov. 11. Still, Yzerman stressed that his team is willing to be patient with Stamkos. "Well see how this X-ray goes. Hell continue to work and well wait and well make that decision when we get closer to the Olympics." The announcement was not as kind to Stamkos linemate Martin St. Louis. The 38-year-old has managed 38 points this season despite playing the majority of it without Stamkos. Still, the Canadian brain trust made the decision to leave the veteran off the roster, despite Yzerman having a long look at St. Louis as Tampa Bay Lightning general manager. "I guess we thought with Steve Yzerman being thee executive director of Team Canada and the general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning and with Marty St. Blake Bortles Jersey. Louis playing as well as he did, especially after Steven Stamkos went down with injury that he would be there," TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie said. "But we also sensed all along that the coaching staff might not have been as big on Marty St. Louis as the management team or as Steve Yzerman might have been." St. Louis meanwhile, voiced his disappointment after Tampa Bays 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday. "For Team Canada, you guys can imagine how I feel, obviously, Im extremely disappointed and Ill just leave it at that," he said, refusing to speak more about the issue. In the end, it put Yzerman in a difficult professional position. "Youve got to hand it to Steve Yzerman," McKenzie said. "Thats a personally – and even professionally, with the impact that this could have with the Tampa Bay Lightning – a huge blow to St. Louis and his psyche right now." Lightning head coach Jon Cooper says that despite being a veteran, being cut is still hard on a player like St. Louis. "Hes a human, so I dont care if hes one year in the league or 20 years in the league, Im sure hes extremely disappointed, as we all are," said Cooper. "Knowing Marty, this is probably going to motivate the snot out of him." St. Louis is not expected to address the media until after the Lightnings game Tuesday night in Winnipeg. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

This week they discuss the Philadelphia 76ers, Gregg Popovich, Royal and Ancient Golf Club and Bill Belichick.LAWRENCE, Kan. -- On an afternoon in which three Georgetown players fouled out and his team sent No. 18 Kansas to the free throw line 46 times, Hoyas coach John Thompson III reached an obvious conclusion. His team just wasnt physical enough. "I thought we were the farthest thing from it to be honest with you," Thompson said without a trace of sarcasm. "We slapped and fouled, but we werent physical." The Jayhawks took advantage of the Hoyas foul trouble, overwhelming them in the second half with a variety of highlight-reel slams in an 86-64 victory Saturday. "If you look at the game, we didnt make enough of the physical plays," Thompson said. "When I say that I mean a good box out. When I say that I mean if its a loose ball we have to be the one to aggressively go after it and come up with the 50-50 balls." Tarik Black came off the bench to score 17 points and Joel Embiid also had 17 for the Jayhawks (8-3), while Markel Starks paced Georgetown with 19 and DVauntes Smith-Rivera added 12. The Hoyas (7-3) tried to use the kind of muscle that has suited them so well in the rough-and-tumble Big East, but all they did was get into debilitating foul trouble. Bruising big man Josh Smith, who had been averaging 14.1 points, scored just five before fouling out. Moses Ayegba and Nate Lubick also fouled out as Kansas asserted its dominance in the post. "They did a good job of getting us in foul trouble and we got deep into the bench," said Thompson, whose team was playing its first true road game. "Do we have a lack of depth? I dont know. I dont think necessarily the guys that were in foul trouble played particularly well." Andrew Wiggins added 12 points and Naadir Tharpe had 10 for the Jayhawks, who proved once more why the Phog is such an intimidating venue. Kansas pushed its non-conference home winning streak to 67 games by beating the Hoyas in their first visit to Allen Fieldhouse. "This venue is storied," Thompson said. "With that being said it wasnt the venue or the fans, it was the guys down on the other bench that I thought played at a high level today." The game was so rough that Jayhawkss forward Perry Ellis left early in the second half after taking an elbow to the back of his head. Trevor Story Rockies Jersey. Ellis tried to stay in the game but missed a free throw so badly that he took himself out. He never returned from the locker room. "If he had a concussion, its very, very slight," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "He did bruise the nerve in his neck. ... Its something hell be able to come back from in a short time." Just as every other team has done this season, Georgetown tried to combat the Jayhawks length and athleticism by employing a zone defence in the first half. The only problem was the Hoyas were so mired in foul trouble that they didnt have anybody to occupy the inside. "We didnt do what we needed to do to win the game," Lubick said. "We didnt make the type of plays with our frontcourt that you need to make to come and win a game here." Kansas built its 44-34 lead thanks in part to a 14-3 run fueled by its defence. Georgetown at one point went more than 10 1/2 minutes without a field goal. Ayegba and Lubick had three fouls each by halftime, and three other Hoyas who spent time guarding the paint had picked up two fouls. That included Smith, who picked up his third in the opening minute of the second half and had to spend long stretches on the bench. Georgetown tried to get back into the game midway through the second half, trimming its deficit to 59-47 on Jabil Trawicks basket. But frustration boiled over for the Hoyas when Trawick clobbered Wiggins on the way to the basket, and the teams nearly came to blows. Wiggins responded by knocking down a 3-pointer in Trawicks face, and in a matter of minutes, the Jayhawks had built a comfortable lead. Embiid put an exclamation mark on it when he followed up a miss by Wiggins with a thunderous jam that left the entire goal shaking. It set off a festive celebration of the Jayhawks first game at the Phog in 29 days. "The last couple practices before this game, I told the guys it would be a fun game to come back home," Tharp said. "I knew it was going to be exciting. I knew it was going to be turned up in there. It was just a good game." Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
Scottsdale, AZ (SportsNetwork. Art Monk Redskins Jersey .com) - Brooks Koepka fired a bogey-free, 5-under 66 in Sundays final round as he rallied to win the Phoenix Open by one shot. Koepka finished his first PGA Tour victory at 15-under-par 269. Though this was his first PGA win, Koepka won the Turkish Airlines Open on the European Tour last season, and entered the week ranked 33rd in the world. It feels amazing. The last few weeks, Ive put in a lot hard work. Ive changed my putting stroke completely. Everything seems to be going right, Koepka stated. I was trying to 2-putt that one (on 15), but I gave the hole quite a few scares on the back nine. It was a fun day. Bubba Watson fired a 6-under 65 to share second place for the second straight year at this event. The Masters champion was joined at minus-14 by first-round leader Ryan Palmer (66) and Memorial winner Hideki Matsuyama (67). Martin Laird, who led after the second and third rounds, dropped three shots in the last two holes to fall into a tie for fifth at 12-under-par 272. He ended alongside amateur Jon Rahm (68), who is on the Arizona State golf team. Freddie Jacobson matched the low round of the day at the TPC Scottsdale with his 7-under 64. He soared into a share of seventh place at minus-11. He shared seventh with Graham DeLaet (67) and Jordan Spieth (65). Koepka, who was in the final group with Laird and Matsuyama, was two shots behind at the turn and remained there as he parred the first three holes of the back nine. The 24-year-old made a 4-foot birdie effort at the par-5 13th, but remained two back as Matsuyama also made birdie to move to 15-under. Matsuyama gave that shot back as he 3-putted for bogey on the 14th. Koepka briefly grabbed the lead as he poured in a 51-footer for eagle from off the green at No. 15. Laird 2-putted for birdie on the same hole to join Koepka atop the leaderboard at minus-15. Both Koepka and Laird parred the raucous par-3 16th to remain tied for the lead. However, Laird fell apart down the stretch. His drive on the short par-4 17th ended in the right rough and he only managed to chip his second to 53 feet. Laird tripped to a 3-putt bogey from there to fall one back, Koepka needed two putts from 13 feet out for his par. At the last, Koepka bombed his drive right down the middle before Laird dumped his in the water left of the fairway. That led to a closing bogey. Koepka dropped his approach shot to 19 feet. He 2-putted for a closing par to seal the victory. The first five holes were very boring and everybody (else) got off to a hot start. Hideki holed out on the first hole. It reminded me of Frys two years ago, the same happened, stated Koepka, who lost the third-round lead at the 2013 Frys.com Open. But, as far as staying patient, I just had to wait until the back nine. Nothing was really happening. On the front side, Koepka carded seven pars and a pair of birdies. He birdied the sixth from eight feet out and made it two in a row with a 5-foot birdie putt on No. 6. Matsuyama holed out for eagle on the first to move within two of Laird. He later birdied the third and fifth to join Laird in the lead at minus-14. Matsuyama traded a birdie for a bogey from the 13th then parred out to share second. Watson ran off three straight birdies from the second to leap to 11-under. After four pars, he picked up another birdie at the ninth. The Masters champion birdied 12 and 13 to gain a piece of the lead at minus-14. Watson closed with five straight pars to end there. Palmer slowly climbed the leaderboard with four birdies on the front nine. He rolled in an 8-footer for birdie on the 15th to briefly tie for the lead. However, Palmer finished with three consecutive pars to share second. NOTES: Koepka earned $1.134 million for the victory ... Koepka, who has finished in the top-10 in each of his three PGA Tour starts this season, has shot par or better in all 12 of those rounds ... NEW YORK, N. Stedman Bailey West Virginia Jersey .Y. - Blackhawks winger Daniel Carcillo has been suspended six games for cross-checking and injuring Jets centre Mathieu Perreault.Carcillo cross-checked Perreaults left arm after the whistle during Chicagos game against Winnipeg on Friday.A two-minute minor penalty was called on the play, but the NHLs department of player safety said this warranted supplemental discipline because it was not a hockey play and came when Perreault should not have expected any contact. It has nothing to do with the puck and the blow is delivered after the whistle has blown the play dead, Patrick Burke said in the video announcing the suspension. Coming up from behind the unaware Perreault, Carcillo is entirely in control of what happens. After hearing the whistle, Carcillo chooses to deliver a forceful cross check that strikes Perreault in an unprotected spot on his arm.Perreault has not played since suffering the injury. The Jets have not said how severe it is.Because the suspension is longer than five games, Carcillo could appeal to an independent arbitrator after the commissioner, if he chooses to. He also had a right to an in-person hearing but waived it to instead do it by phone. As a repeat offender, Carcillo will forfeit US$40,243.92 in salary. His most recent suspension came during last years playoffs. This is Carcillos ninth suspension in his nine-year NHL career. He has also been fined three times.Burke said in the video that Carcillos track record was of heightened significance in this case and that two previous fines and one suspension came as a result of stick violations.Carcillo will be eligible to return Feb. 6 when the Blackhawks visit the Jets. The 29-year-old from King City, Ont., has three goals and four assists in 31 games this season for Chicago.
